Account Suspension & Termination

How AskBiz handles account suspension and termination. What happens to your data, your subscription, your connected integrations, and how to request reinstatement.

Suspension vs Termination

Suspension is temporary. Your account is locked but your data is preserved. You will receive:

  • A notification email explaining the reason for suspension
  • The duration of the suspension (where applicable)
  • Steps you can take to address the violation
  • Information on how to appeal

Termination is permanent. Your account is closed, your subscription is cancelled, and your data is scheduled for deletion. Termination is applied only for serious or repeated violations, or where required by law.

What Happens to Your Data

During suspension: Your data is preserved. You cannot access it during the suspension period, but it will be restored when suspension ends (unless you are informed otherwise).

Upon termination: Your data enters a 30-day grace period during which you can appeal and request data export. After 30 days, all data is permanently deleted per our standard deletion process. Billing records are retained for 7 years for legal compliance.

Data export during suspension: If you wish to export your data while suspended, contact support@askbiz.co. We will provide a data export within 5 business days. You have a legal right to your data under UK GDPR Article 20 and EU GDPR Article 20, which we honour even for suspended accounts.

What Happens to Your Subscription

During suspension: Your subscription continues to run. You will not be charged extra, but you also will not receive a pro-rata refund for the suspension period unless the suspension was caused by an AskBiz error.

Upon termination for cause: Your subscription is cancelled immediately. No refund is issued for the current billing period. Refunds for prepaid annual subscriptions are assessed on a case-by-case basis depending on the nature of the violation.

Upon termination without cause (AskBiz closes your account for commercial reasons not related to your conduct): You receive a pro-rata refund for the unused portion of your subscription and 30 days' notice.

Connected Integrations

When an account is suspended or terminated:

  • OAuth tokens for connected platforms (Shopify, Amazon, etc.) are invalidated
  • API keys are revoked
  • Webhooks stop firing
  • Scheduled syncs cease

This does not affect your accounts on those platforms — only AskBiz's access to them. You will need to reconnect integrations if your account is reinstated.

Requesting Reinstatement

If you believe your suspension or termination was in error, follow the Appeals Process.

If your suspension was for cause and you have addressed the underlying issue, you may request reinstatement after the suspension period by emailing support@askbiz.co with:

  • Your account email
  • A description of the steps you have taken to ensure the violation will not recur
  • Any relevant context

Reinstatement after a first-time suspension for a non-serious violation is generally granted. Reinstatement after termination is at AskBiz's sole discretion.
