Verified Business Program (KYC)

Verified Business is an optional program for AskBiz developer accounts — the API key holders and integration builders on developer.askbiz.co — not the payment-provider KYC you complete when setting up Stripe or Airtel Money under POS > Payments. Getting verified earns your account a Verified business badge that merchants see when deciding whether to connect your app, plus a 3× increase to your API rate limits. Applying is free, and every submission is reviewed manually — there's no automated or third-party identity-check step yet.

Open the Verification tab in your developer dashboard sidebar and fill in your business details:

• Legal business name (required)
• Registration number (required)
• Business address (required)
• Tax ID (optional)

Save that first, then upload four supporting documents — clear photos are fine, you don't need scans:

• Business registration certificate — certificate of incorporation, trading licence, or equivalent
• Proof of business address — a utility bill, lease, or bank statement showing the address
• Owner's government ID — national ID, passport, or driving licence for the account owner
• Ownership disclosure — a short note or document naming anyone who owns 25% or more of the business

Once submitted, your status shows as Pending review. An AskBiz admin reviews it manually — there's no automated approval, and AskBiz doesn't publish a fixed turnaround time, so treat it as a background process rather than something with a guaranteed date. While you're pending, or if you come back rejected, you can update your business details and re-upload documents at any time — there's no need to start a fresh application. Once you're approved, the submission locks; if something needs to change after that, contact support rather than resubmitting.

Two things happen as soon as an admin approves you:

1. The verified badge. Merchants see a Verified badge next to your app's name on the Connections consent screen — the page where a merchant approves your app's request to access their AskBiz data. If a connection isn't grouped under a registered app, the badge still shows on its own.

2. A 3× rate-limit multiplier, applied to both the monthly and per-minute request limits on every one of your API keys:

• Free plan: 100/month, 5/minute → 300/month, 15/minute
• Growth plan: 10,000/month, 60/minute → 30,000/month, 180/minute
• Business plan: unlimited/month (unchanged), 120/minute → 360/minute

The multiplier applies retroactively to your existing keys the moment you're approved, applies automatically to any key you create afterward, and stays in place through any future plan upgrade or downgrade — you don't need to reapply or ask for it to be reinstated.

The Verification page lives at developer.askbiz.co/dashboard/verification — the Verification entry in your dashboard's left sidebar. A status dot next to that nav item reflects your current state at a glance, so you don't need to open the page just to check whether you're pending, approved, or rejected.
