How Consent Is Tracked and Stored

AskBiz logs customer consent for marketing, data retention, and loyalty participation.

What consent is tracked#

AskBiz tracks consent for three categories: marketing communications (email, WhatsApp, SMS), data retention (storing purchase history and preferences), and loyalty programme participation. Each consent is recorded with the date, method (verbal, written, digital), and the specific permission granted. This creates a defensible record if consent is ever questioned.

Recording consent#

When adding a customer, the system prompts for consent selections. Staff tick the applicable boxes โ€” marketing opt-in, data retention agreement, loyalty enrolment. If consent is given verbally at the counter, select verbal as the method. For online sign-ups, digital consent is recorded automatically. Each consent entry is timestamped and linked to the staff member who recorded it.

Updating and withdrawing consent#

Customers can update their consent at any time. Go to the customer profile and modify the consent settings. Withdrawing marketing consent stops all automated communications immediately. Withdrawing data retention consent triggers the same process as a GDPR deletion request. All changes are logged in the consent history with before and after states.
