Shortlisting and Testing Candidates

How to move expansion candidates through your pipeline — from new to shortlisted to testing — and track results.

The candidate pipeline#

Each expansion candidate has a status:

  • New — freshly identified, not yet reviewed
  • Shortlisted — you've reviewed it and it looks promising
  • Testing — you've ordered a small batch and are tracking performance

Use the filter tabs at the top of the Expansion page to switch between views.

Moving candidates through the pipeline#

Click on any candidate card to open its detail view. From there you can change its status. A good workflow:

1. Review all New candidates after each analysis

2. Move promising ones to Shortlisted

3. When you place a test order, move to Testing

4. Track actual sales against the predicted margin

Measuring test results#

After testing a new product, compare actual performance against the AskBiz prediction:

  • Did the margin match the estimate?
  • Did cannibalization match the risk level?
  • Did the best region prediction hold?

This helps you calibrate how much to trust future recommendations and decide whether to scale up the product.
