Understanding Your Billing Cycle

How AskBiz billing cycles work — when you are charged, what happens at renewal, and how proration works when you change plans mid-cycle.

When you are charged

Your AskBiz subscription is billed in advance:

  • Monthly plans: charged on the same date each month (your subscription start date). If you started on the 15th, you are charged on the 15th of each month.
  • Annual plans: charged on your subscription anniversary date each year. Annual plans receive a 20% discount vs monthly pricing.

Your renewal date is shown in Settings → Billing → Subscription. You will receive a reminder email 7 days before each renewal.

Note: if your start date falls on the 29th, 30th, or 31st, billing defaults to the last day of shorter months (e.g. 31st becomes 28th in February).

How proration works

When you upgrade mid-cycle, you are charged the prorated difference for the remaining days in your current billing period — you only pay for what you use.

Example: You are on Growth (£19/month) and upgrade to Business (£49/month) on the 15th of a 30-day month:

  • Remaining days: 15 out of 30
  • Unused Growth credit: £19 × (15/30) = £9.50
  • Business charge for 15 days: £49 × (15/30) = £24.50
  • Net charge today: £24.50 − £9.50 = £15.00
  • Next renewal: full £49/month from today's date

Proration is calculated automatically and shown on your invoice. You can preview the proration amount before confirming an upgrade in Settings → Billing → Upgrade Plan.

Changing from monthly to annual billing

Switching to annual billing saves 20% and locks in your current price for 12 months.

To switch:

1. Go to Settings → Billing → Subscription → Change to Annual

2. Review the annual cost and the prorated credit for your current monthly period

3. Confirm — you are charged the annual amount immediately (minus any credit from days remaining in your monthly cycle)

Annual billing starts a new 12-month cycle from today. If you cancel an annual plan, you receive a prorated refund for the unused months (see the cancellation policy in the Cancel Subscription article).

Viewing your billing history

Go to Settings → Billing → Billing History to see:

  • All past payments with dates and amounts
  • Invoice download links (PDF)
  • Payment method used for each charge
  • Any credits or refunds applied

Billing history is available from the date you first subscribed. There is no limit to how far back you can view.
