Factory Roles and Permissions
Understand the factory-specific permission flags in AskBiz POS — camera.intake, camera.output, camera.wastage, camera.dispatch, and capture.approve — and how to assign them to your staff.
The factory permission flags#
AskBiz Factory Captures uses five specific permission flags that control what each staff member can do on the production floor:
camera.intake— can submit intake captures (incoming materials/components)camera.output— can submit output captures (finished goods off the line)camera.wastage— can submit wastage captures (damaged or rejected materials)camera.dispatch— can submit dispatch captures (finished goods leaving the facility)capture.approve— can see the pending approvals queue and approve or reject captures
Permission flags are additive — a staff member can hold any combination. A floor supervisor might hold all four camera.* flags plus capture.approve.
Roles in context — who gets what#
While you can configure permissions freely, most factory operations map to these typical role profiles:
- Floor worker (general) — assigned
camera.intakeandcamera.output. Logs material arrivals and finished goods. - Wastage monitor — assigned
camera.wastage. Responsible for formally logging all waste events. - Dispatch operative — assigned
camera.dispatch. Logs goods leaving the facility. - Supervisor — assigned
capture.approveplus any camera flags relevant to their floor role. Reviews and approves all pending captures. - Manager — has all permissions by default, including
capture.approve. Can also access the audit trail and override rejected captures. - Owner/admin — full access to all features including staff management and audit trail.
Assigning roles from the admin Staff tab#
To assign factory permissions to a staff member:
1. Go to Settings → POS → Staff in your admin panel
2. Find the staff member and tap Edit
3. Under Factory Permissions, toggle on the relevant flags
4. Tap Save
Changes take effect immediately — the staff member will see the updated capture buttons the next time they log in at pos.askbiz.co.
To remove a permission, return to the same screen and toggle it off. The staff member's historical captures are not affected — only future capture access is changed.
