Marking Output and Wastage as Sold
How to record a buyer and price directly on an output or wastage capture — for genuine co-products, like press-cake or bran, that shouldn't be filed as ordinary waste.
Why this exists#
Several production processes generate a genuine by-product that's still worth money — sesame's press-cake, maize milling's bran and germ, dairy's whey. That material isn't waste, but it also isn't your main output. The "This was sold" toggle gives it somewhere accurate to live, on either an Output or a Wastage capture, instead of forcing you to either hide it in notes or misrecord it as a loss.
Recording a sale on a capture#
When submitting an Output or Wastage capture, turn on "This was sold" and enter the buyer's name and the price you sold it for. Both fields are optional even with the toggle on — record whichever you have.
Where it shows up#
A sold capture is flagged in the approvals queue ("Sold to {buyer} for {price}", or just the price if no buyer was given) so supervisors see it at a glance, and again on the Production log once approved, with a dedicated sold badge and detail fields.
