Production Shifts and Waybills

A Production Shift tracks a block of working time on your factory floor against an output target — separate from the cash-register shift your cashiers open and close at checkout.

To start one, open Start Shift from the Factory hub (pos.askbiz.co/factory), take a photo, choose Morning, Afternoon, Night, or Custom (with your own name), and optionally set a target output. Only one production shift can be active at a time.

While the shift is running, the Factory hub shows live output — the total quantity from every approved output capture logged during that shift — updating as captures are approved. When the shift ends, open End Shift, take a closing photo, and AskBiz locks in the final output figure and the shift's duration. That final figure won't change afterwards even if a capture from that shift is approved or rejected later, so it stays a reliable historical record.

A Waybill is a fuller dispatch record than a plain dispatch capture — use it for shipments that need real paperwork. Open Scan Waybill from the Factory hub, photograph the shipment, then fill in:

• Destination — required
• Scheduled time — optional, but needed if you want on-time tracking (see below)
• Waybill reference and vehicle reference — optional, shown in capitals
• Product and quantity — optional
• Notes — optional

Once logged, the waybill appears in your recent-dispatches list with its photo and, if you set a scheduled time, an on-time or late badge.

If you set a scheduled time for a waybill, AskBiz compares it against the moment you actually logged the dispatch, with a 15-minute grace window — dispatch at or before the scheduled time (plus 15 minutes) counts as on time; anything later is late. Waybills with no scheduled time show as "no schedule" and aren't counted either way.

The Factory hub and the Waybill hub both show today's on-time rate — the percentage of today's scheduled dispatches that went out on time — along with totals for on-time, late, and overall dispatches. Only dispatches with a scheduled time count toward this rate.

Both tools are reached from the Factory hub (pos.askbiz.co/factory). Like Batch Tracking, Quality Checks, and Downtime Logging, neither goes through the pending-approval queue used for the four capture types — they save immediately and are written to your audit trail.

The permission flags are:

• shift.production_open, shift.production_close, shift.production_view — start, end, or view production shifts
• waybill.log, waybill.view — log a dispatch waybill, or view the waybill hub and stats

These are separate from the general shift.open/shift.close permissions used for the cash-register shift — holding one doesn't grant the other. See Factory Roles and Permissions for which of the five factory role templates carry which of these by default.
