Connect Jumia to AskBiz

Step-by-step guide to connecting your Jumia Vendor Center seller account so AskBiz can sync orders, payouts and stock across your African storefronts.

Before you start#

You will need:

  • An approved, active Jumia Vendor Center seller account
  • Access to create an Application inside Vendor Center (Settings → Applications)
  • A few minutes to copy two credentials — a Client ID and a Refresh Token

UNVERIFIED: other marketplace connectors in AskBiz (Walmart, WooCommerce, Amazon, TikTok Shop) are documented as requiring the Growth or Business plan. The current Sources connect flow doesn't show a plan check in the code, so whether Jumia specifically is restricted by plan couldn't be confirmed here — if the Connect button appears locked for you, check your plan under Settings → Billing.

Setting it up#

1. Log in to Jumia Vendor Center and go to Settings → Applications.

2. Click Create Application and choose Self Authorisation — this is Jumia's model for third-party read access, so there's no AskBiz-hosted login redirect; the Application belongs entirely to your own Vendor Center account.

3. Copy the Client ID, then generate and copy the Refresh Token. Treat the Refresh Token like a password — Jumia may only display it once.

4. In AskBiz, go to Sources (/sources) and find Jumia under E-Commerce (it's marked with an API token badge, meaning you paste credentials rather than being redirected to log in).

5. Click Connect, paste your Client ID and Refresh Token into the Connect Jumia dialog, then click Connect again to confirm.

AskBiz validates your credentials against Jumia immediately, before saving anything — it requests an access token with your Refresh Token, then checks it can read your shop list. If something's wrong you'll see a specific message rather than a generic failure, for example: "Could not authenticate with Jumia — check the Client ID and Refresh Token from Vendor Center › Settings › Applications", or if the Application is missing a role, "Connected to Jumia but could not read your shops — check the application has an Order/Product role in Vendor Center."

Initial data import#

Once connected, AskBiz immediately pulls your first batch of data: orders placed in the last 30 days (up to 100 orders, with full line-item detail fetched for the most recent 50 of those), plus your current stock levels (up to 100 SKUs) from Jumia's catalog. This usually finishes within a few minutes. AskBiz paces its requests to stay within Jumia's API limits, so a larger catalogue may take a little longer to fully come through.

What data flows in from Jumia#

  • Orders — Jumia reports order items per unit rather than per line quantity, so each unit sold arrives as its own record, carrying paid price, voucher/discount amount, shipping, tax, and order status
  • Currency and country — each order keeps the currency and country of the specific Jumia storefront it came from, so if you sell on more than one Jumia country marketplace they're tracked separately rather than blended into one figure
  • Stock levels — current quantity per SKU from Jumia's catalogue stock feed

Not included: Jumia's marketplace commission. The orders endpoint AskBiz reads doesn't expose it — that only appears on Jumia's separate payout-statement report, which isn't connected — so revenue shown for Jumia is what the customer paid, before Jumia's cut. Cost price isn't available from Jumia either; margin on a Jumia product that hasn't been matched to a POS product (see below) will look inflated until it is.

Ongoing sync#

AskBiz automatically re-syncs every connected source, including Jumia, once a day. To force an immediate refresh — for example right after a big sale — go to Sources, find Jumia in your connected list, and click Sync now. Note that Sync now refreshes all of your connected sources at once, not just Jumia.

Your Jumia access token is short-lived; AskBiz mints a fresh one from your Refresh Token automatically every time it syncs, so you shouldn't need to reconnect. If Jumia ever revokes or expires the Refresh Token itself — for example if the Application is deleted in Vendor Center — the connection will show an error and you'll need to reconnect with freshly generated credentials.

Where Jumia data shows up in AskBiz#

  • CFO Mode → Inventory (/intelligence → CFO tab → Inventory): if a Jumia SKU or product name matches something already in your POS inventory, AskBiz merges them into one row — combining units sold and labelling the source as "POS + Jumia" — instead of showing two disconnected products. Your in-store stock count and value stay authoritative; Jumia's reported stock is never added on top, since AskBiz can't tell whether it's the same physical shelf stock also listed online or genuinely separate stock held at Jumia's own warehouse. A Jumia product with no POS match shows as its own row, flagged Low Stock at 5 units or fewer and Out of Stock at 0.
  • Stock alerts — your notification bell (and email/WhatsApp, if enabled) raises a low-stock alert when a Jumia SKU's live count drops to 3 units or fewer, and an out-of-stock alert at 0 — labelled "on Jumia" so you know exactly which channel needs restocking.
  • Intelligence → market filter — pick Jumia from the channel dropdown to see Jumia-only sales trends, separate from your other connected channels.
