Connect Shopify to AskBiz

Step-by-step guide to connecting your Shopify store to AskBiz. What data is synced, required permissions, and how to disconnect.

Prerequisites

  • An active Shopify store (any plan)
  • Shopify store owner or admin access
  • Your AskBiz account (any plan — note: CSV is the only connector on Free; Shopify OAuth requires Growth or Business)

Connection Steps

1. Go to /sources in AskBiz

2. Click Shopify under Ecommerce

3. Enter your Shopify store URL (e.g. mystore.myshopify.com)

4. Click Connect — you'll be redirected to Shopify

5. Review the permissions AskBiz requests and click Install app

6. You're redirected back to AskBiz. Sync begins automatically.

Data Synced from Shopify

AskBiz pulls the following from Shopify:

  • Orders — order ID, date, revenue, discount, shipping, taxes, line items
  • Products — title, SKU, price, inventory levels, variants
  • Customers — customer ID (anonymised), order history, location, tags
  • Refunds — refund amount, reason, date
  • Abandoned checkouts — value and frequency

AskBiz does not access: customer email addresses, passwords, payment card details, or Shopify admin settings.

Sync Frequency

  • Growth plan: Every 6 hours
  • Business plan: Real-time webhook (data appears within seconds of a new order)
  • Historical: First sync pulls 90 days of history; you can request up to 2 years from Settings → Data → Historical Sync

Disconnecting Shopify

Go to /sources → Shopify → Disconnect. This revokes AskBiz's access token. You can also revoke from Shopify Admin → Apps. Disconnecting does not delete your historical synced data from AskBiz — it simply stops future syncs.
