Roles and Permissions
Understand the difference between Admin, Analyst, and Viewer roles in AskBiz and what each can access.
The three roles
AskBiz has three roles:
Admin โ full access to everything including settings, integrations, billing, and team management. The account owner is always an Admin. Additional Admins can be assigned on the Business plan.
Analyst โ access to all dashboards, AI chat, reports, and data exports. Cannot access Settings, billing, or team management. Suitable for team members who need to work with data but should not manage the account.
Viewer โ read-only access to dashboards and reports. Cannot use AI chat, export data, or make any changes. Suitable for investors, board members, or advisors who need visibility without interaction.
Permissions by role
| Feature | Admin | Analyst | Viewer |
|---|---|---|---|
| View dashboards | โ | โ | โ |
| Use AI chat | โ | โ | โ |
| Export data (CSV/PDF) | โ | โ | โ |
| Set KPI targets | โ | โ | โ |
| Connect integrations | โ | โ | โ |
| Manage team members | โ | โ | โ |
| Access billing | โ | โ | โ |
| Change account settings | โ | โ | โ |
Restricting specific dashboards (Business plan)
On the Business plan, Admins can restrict access to specific dashboards on a per-user basis. For example, you might give your marketing manager Analyst access to the Marketing Intelligence and Customer Intelligence dashboards but hide the Financial Intelligence dashboard.
To configure this: Settings โ Team โ [Member Name] โ Dashboard Access and toggle each dashboard on or off.
Changing a team member's role
Go to Settings โ Team โ Members, find the team member, click the three-dot menu, and select Change Role. The change takes effect immediately โ the team member does not need to log out and back in.
