Team Notifications: Keeping Your Team Informed

Configure which alerts, briefs, and reports are delivered to which team members — and how to avoid notification overload.

How Team Notifications Work#

On the Business plan, each team member has their own notification profile — controlling which alerts, Daily Briefs, and scheduled reports they receive. Notifications are delivered by email by default; the mobile app (iOS/Android) delivers push notifications for time-sensitive alerts like anomaly spikes or cash flow warnings.

Notification Types#

There are four types of notifications in AskBiz:

1. Daily Brief — AI-generated morning summary of your business (personalised per user based on their role)

2. Anomaly Alerts — triggered when a metric moves outside expected range

3. Intelligence Alerts — triggered by churn, supplier risk, or competitor signals

4. Scheduled Reports — weekly or monthly performance reports you configure

Each type can be enabled or disabled independently per team member.

Configuring Notifications for a Team Member#

Go to Settings → Team → [Member Name] → Notifications. You can:

  • Toggle each notification type on or off
  • Set the delivery channel (email only, push only, or both)
  • Set quiet hours (e.g. no notifications before 7am or after 9pm)
  • Choose which dashboards or metrics trigger alerts for this person

Changes take effect immediately.

Role-Based Notification Defaults#

When you invite a new team member and assign them a role, notification defaults are applied automatically:

  • Admin — all notifications enabled
  • Analyst — Daily Brief + scheduled reports (no anomaly alerts by default)
  • Viewer — scheduled reports only

You can override these defaults at any time from the team member's notification settings.

Avoiding Notification Overload#

If your team is receiving too many alerts, the most effective adjustments are:

1. Raise anomaly alert thresholds — go to Intelligence → Alert Settings and increase the sensitivity from Moderate to Low

2. Bundle alerts into a digest — switch from real-time to daily digest delivery under notification settings

3. Limit who receives which alert type — only route cash flow alerts to the finance lead, not the whole team

4. Turn off duplicate channels — if someone checks the app, disable email delivery for the same alerts
