How to Share a Dashboard

Share AskBiz dashboards with investors, advisors, and external stakeholders — with or without requiring an account — including how to build an investor pack.

Two ways to share with people outside your team#

Option 1 — Invite as a Viewer (best for ongoing access): The recipient creates an AskBiz login and can view the dashboard whenever they need to. Go to Settings → Team → Invite Member, enter their email, and assign the Viewer role. This is the right option for a board member, a regular advisor, or a part-time finance consultant who needs regular access without the ability to change anything.

Option 2 — Secure share link (best for one-time or time-limited sharing): Generate a view-only link the recipient can click without creating an account. The link can expire automatically and optionally require a password. This is the right option for a due diligence request, a one-off investor update, or sharing with someone you do not want to give a permanent login.

Generating a secure share link#

From any dashboard, click the Share icon in the top right corner. Select Generate Link. Configure the following settings before generating:

  • Expiry: 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, or Never (for permanent links)
  • Password protection: optional — add a password the recipient must enter before viewing. Useful when sharing sensitive financial dashboards
  • Data scope: choose which date range the recipient can see. For investor sharing, restricting to the current financial year prevents confusion from historical data in different formats
  • Dashboard selection: choose which specific dashboard the link opens — you can create separate links for different dashboards with different access levels

Click Generate and copy the link. Share it via email or your preferred communication channel.

Building an Investor Pack#

For investor or board reporting, use the Investor Pack feature at Reports → Investor Pack. This generates a structured, curated view of your key performance metrics formatted for investor consumption — not the full dashboard, but the specific metrics investors care about: revenue growth (monthly and year-on-year), gross margin trend, customer acquisition and churn, and cash position and runway.

Before sharing, you can add metric commentary — a short paragraph on each metric explaining the context, what drove the result, and what you are doing about any challenges. Investors consistently say the commentary is more valuable than the number itself. The Investor Pack can be shared as a view-only link (no login required) or exported as a formatted PDF.

Managing and revoking shared links#

Go to Settings → Sharing → Active Links to see all active share links across your account — who created them, which dashboard they show, when they were created, when they expire, and how many times they have been viewed. To revoke a link: click Revoke next to any link. Access stops immediately — the next time anyone tries to open the link, they see an access denied message. Revoking a link does not affect Viewer accounts — those must be removed separately via Settings → Team.

Security considerations for shared links#

Shared links are view-only — the recipient cannot export data, ask AI questions, or change any settings. However, anyone with the link URL can access the dashboard until it expires. For sensitive dashboards (financial data, customer data), always set an expiry date and consider adding password protection. Avoid sharing links via public channels (social media, public Slack channels) — use email or private messaging. If you believe a link has been compromised, revoke it immediately and generate a new one if access is still required.
