Dashboard Loading Slowly
If your AskBiz dashboard is slow to load, here are the most common causes and how to fix them — from browser cache to widget count to platform-wide issues.
Step 1: Hard refresh and clear browser cache#
Browser cache issues are the most common cause of slow dashboard loading. Your browser may be holding on to stale JavaScript or CSS files that conflict with a recent AskBiz update.
Try this first:
1. Hard refresh: Ctrl + Shift + R (Windows/Linux) or Cmd + Shift + R (Mac)
2. Open in a private/incognito window (this bypasses the cache entirely)
3. Try a different browser — Chrome, Firefox, or Edge are fully supported
If the dashboard loads faster in incognito or another browser, clear your cache and cookies specifically for askbiz.co — you do not need to clear your entire browser history.
In Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Clear Browsing Data → check Cached images and files, set time range to All time → Clear data.
Step 2: Check your date range — wide ranges are slower#
Selecting a date range larger than 12 months can significantly increase load time, particularly if you have high transaction volumes (thousands of orders or invoices per month). The more data points your charts need to plot, the longer each chart takes to render.
To diagnose: Switch the date range to Last 30 Days. If the dashboard loads quickly at 30 days but slowly at 2 years, the data volume is the cause — not a bug.
Workarounds:
- Use 3- or 6-month date ranges for day-to-day monitoring
- For long-term trend analysis, use the Export function to download historical data and analyse it in Excel or Google Sheets
- Use the Scheduled Reports feature to receive pre-computed summaries by email rather than rendering large date ranges live
Step 3: Reduce the number of widgets on the dashboard#
Each widget on your dashboard makes a separate API call to fetch its data. A dashboard with 20 widgets makes 20 simultaneous requests, which can overwhelm slower network connections or cause the page to feel sluggish even on fast connections.
Recommended maximum: 12–15 widgets per dashboard view.
To remove a widget:
1. Click Edit Mode in the top-right corner of the dashboard
2. Click the X icon on any widget you want to remove
3. Click Save to confirm
Better approach: Create multiple focused dashboards (e.g. a Revenue Dashboard, an Orders Dashboard, a Finance Dashboard) instead of one dashboard with everything. Use the dashboard switcher in the left navigation to move between them.
Step 4: Check your internet connection and network#
AskBiz loads data in real time from your connected platforms. A slow or unstable internet connection will make the dashboard feel sluggish even if AskBiz itself is performing normally.
Quick tests:
- Run a speed test at fast.com — AskBiz recommends at least 5 Mbps for smooth dashboard use
- Check if other data-heavy websites (e.g. Google Analytics, YouTube) are also loading slowly
- Try switching from Wi-Fi to a wired connection or a mobile hotspot
- If you are on a corporate network, VPNs or firewall rules can sometimes block or throttle AskBiz requests — try disabling the VPN temporarily to test
Step 5: Check AskBiz system status#
If slow loading affects everyone in your team simultaneously and the above steps have not helped, there may be a platform-wide performance issue.
Check status.askbiz.co for real-time system status, active incidents, and historical uptime. If an incident is listed, our engineering team is already aware and working on it — you do not need to contact support separately.
You can subscribe to status notifications to receive email or SMS alerts whenever an incident is opened or resolved. This is useful if you monitor AskBiz dashboards as part of a daily routine.
Still slow? Contact support with these details#
If the dashboard remains slow after trying all the above steps, contact support via the chat icon (bottom right). To help us investigate quickly, include:
- Which specific dashboard or page is slow (e.g. the Revenue Overview, or the Shopify dashboard)
- Your browser and version (e.g. Chrome 124, Safari 17)
- Your operating system (e.g. macOS 14, Windows 11)
- The date range you are using when it is slow
- How many widgets are on the affected dashboard
- Whether it is constant or intermittent (always slow, or only at certain times of day)
- A screen recording or screenshot of the loading state if possible
Our team can check server-side logs for your account to identify whether the slowness is on AskBiz's end, your data source's API, or your network.
