Xero Sync Errors

Fix common Xero connection and sync problems — token expiry, permission errors, and missing transactions.

Token expired or disconnected#

Xero access tokens expire periodically. If your sync shows an error:

1. Go to Settings → Integrations

2. Find Xero in your connected sources

3. Click Reconnect and log in to Xero again

4. Grant the same read-only permissions

Sync will resume automatically after reconnecting.

Missing transactions#

If transactions are missing after sync:

  • Check the date range — AskBiz syncs data from the last 24 months by default
  • Verify the transactions exist in Xero (not in a draft or voided state)
  • Check that the correct Xero organisation is connected (if you have multiple)
  • Wait 10 minutes and refresh — large accounts may take time to sync fully

Permission errors#

If you see a permissions error, the Xero user who authorised the connection may not have sufficient access. The connecting user needs at least Standard role in Xero with access to the relevant organisation. Advisor or read-only roles also work.
