Troubleshooting: Login Issues

Fix common POS login problems — phone or email not recognised, staff PIN not working, session timeout, and how to reset a forgotten account PIN yourself.

How staff login actually works#

Staff at pos.askbiz.co log in with their phone number or email, then a PIN — there's no magic link, OTP text, or emailed sign-in link involved at any point. If a staff member is expecting an email or text with a login link, that's not how it works here; they should just go to pos.askbiz.co and enter their phone/email and PIN directly.

Staff PIN not working#

If a staff member's PIN (4–6 digits) is rejected:

  • Verify the PIN — the account owner can reset it from the Staff tab: find the staff member and tap Reset PIN
  • Account deactivated — if the staff member has been paused or deactivated, their login stops working. Check their status in staff settings
  • Wrong phone/email — confirm the staff member is entering the exact phone number or email their account was created with

Session timeout and re-authentication#

POS sessions are designed to expire after a period of inactivity so an unattended device isn't left logged in. There's no settings screen to adjust this — the exact timeout is a fixed value baked into the app, not something you configure per business.

Forgotten your own PIN?#

This is different from a staff PIN (above) — this is the PIN you, the account owner, use to sign in to your own AskBiz account with your phone number. If you can't remember it, you don't need to contact support:

1. Go to /signin, choose the Phone tab, and tap Forgot PIN?

2. Enter the phone number your account is registered under and tap Send code via WhatsApp

3. A 6-digit code arrives on WhatsApp within a few seconds, valid for 10 minutes

4. Enter the code plus a new 4-digit PIN (twice, to confirm) and tap Reset PIN

You can request a new code once every 60 seconds, and each code allows 5 attempts before you need to request a fresh one. For your security, the request step never reveals whether a phone number actually has an account — if nothing arrives on WhatsApp within a couple of minutes, double-check you entered the number your account is registered under (including the correct country code), then try again.
