Getting Started with Repair & Service Jobs

How AskBiz's repair and service-job workflow actually works: it's a business type you choose at signup, not a settings toggle, and it spans two apps — your staff till and your owner dashboard.

How you get repair features#

Repair is one of AskBiz's five POS track business types — Market stall, Restaurant/Food stand, Shop/Kiosk, Salon/Barbershop, and Repair Shop — chosen once during signup. It isn't a feature you toggle on in settings, and there's no separate opt-in step: pick Repair Shop at onboarding and your till is a repair workflow from the start. See the Complete Onboarding Guide for the signup flow itself.

Two places your repairs live#

Repair jobs are managed from two apps:

  • pos.askbiz.co — the day-to-day staff till. Staff log in with their PIN and work through intake, the ticket board, and parts from here.
  • askbiz.co/pos → Services tab — your owner dashboard. This has the fuller view: assigning engineers, picking service presets, and reviewing every job across your team.

Both read and write the same jobs — a job created on the till shows up in your dashboard immediately, and vice versa.

Staff roles for repairs#

Two roles are built for repair work, with different permissions:

  • Repair (front desk) — creates and manages jobs, logs parts, uploads photos. Cannot mark a job as executed/in-progress on their own.
  • Engineer (technician) — works assigned jobs, logs parts and photos, marks progress. Cannot create new jobs, and by default only sees jobs assigned to them (managers and owners see everything). Engineers also don't see the price the customer is being charged — that's hidden from technician-level accounts.

Add staff from the Staff tab in your dashboard and pick a repair-specific role template (Repair Intake Specialist, Repair Technician, Repair Quality Checker, or Repair Manager).

The repair workflow at a glance#

Every job moves through: intake → quoted → accepted → in progress → completed → collected. Jobs can also be cancelled or reopened at most stages. WhatsApp notifications fire automatically at several of these stages — see Customer Notifications for Repair Jobs for exactly which ones.
